Vive

I am officially starting my 5-day a week exercise regimen à la Seventeen magazine today. If there is one thing that magazine does, it is provide very useful health information. I found the perfect exercise routine for me, which meets pretty much all the basic requirements of a balanced exercise plan- it includes a variety of cardiovascular activities as well as a variety of strengthening activities. I'll thank my required health/personal wellness course for making me aware of the importance of exercise and keeping it balanced.
Usually the only motivation for some one to exercise is to lose weight. For some reason though, weight loss has obviously not been a big enough motivation for me, seeing as how I have remained sedentary for most of my life. Well thanks again to that health course, because I have found my motivation- I refuse to let my body and BRAIN deteriorate before my time is up in life. I will exercise because I don't want to get Alzheimer's and forget my children and grandchildren. I will exercise because don't want to continue down the path of absent-mindedness and forgetfulness that hinders everything I do, to the point where I am the utmost ditz incapable of doing the simplest task without complication and confusion. I will exercise because I want to be able to complete my career and retire on MY terms. I will exercise because I want to be sharp, quick-thinking, and physically fit if an emergency (perhaps even an endangered life) arises at any point in my life which would require great mental or physical strength, and immediate problem-solving skills.
There are MANY reasons to start making physical activity a habit as soon as possible. I have luckily found those reasons out and I plan on staying true to my plan. I'm sorry if this has been a super long and boring post, but I needed to make a statement somewhere somehow, to set it in public writing to make my plans and reasons irrefutable.
Thank you for being patient! I wish you all the best of health for your entire future!

I uphold the right to be free of fashion labels/epithets and to wear what I will, without clumping myself into categories (which often make little sense) which are imposed constantly upon wearers of clothing.

In like a lion

Do you want to know how pathetic I am? I can't remember the last time I did non-undergarment laundry. So I've just been wearing bits and pieces that are left in my closet. It makes for pretty predictable and repetitive outfits, which makes me feel unlike myself.
Today I actually felt like myself, even though I wasn't wearing anything extravagant.
I've grown to be alot more subtle in dressing, which kind of bothers me. I have a problem with feeling like I am trying to get attention when I wear tall shoes or fancy things, and I absolutely hate feeling like I look like I'm trying to get attention. I hate when everyone in classrooms looks up at me as I walk down the halls at BRCC because I'm wearing shoes that are loud. I hate when I'm late to class and everyone looks up at me as I walk in all dressed up, as if I made such an entrance just to get those eyes on me.
Usually people are very nice to me when I am dressed up, but those occasional glares or nasty attitudes (as if I am trying compete or something!) leave me with a resentment for wearing flashy or otherwise gaudy things.
I wish I could just shake that burden off! I hate letting things keep me from wearing what I want!
Maybe if I do some laundry, I might be re-inspired to wear nice things that I own which have been in piles at the washer forever...
We'll see. =)
